5 Mistakes in Creating Clarity and Goal Setting

To be successful in business you will need to work on the 5 C’s of Success.  The first C is Clarity. Are you crystal CLEAR in your vision for the year ahead?  If so, what does it look like?  Are you focused on success or on the problems that are going to get in your way, slow you down, or all but stop you from achieving your desired results? Have your written down your vision?  Most people don’t or are too vague on describing what success looks like for a year.
After that, have you written down your goals that will match up to your vision?  If you have, how did you come to those goals?  Here are 5 common mistakes people make IF they even wrote down their goals:

  1. We set goals we think we can achieve.  The bottom line here is if the reward isn’t great enough and the pain is greater we won’t go after the goal.
  2. We set goals based on what we THINK we can do.  Everything changes the moment we set those goals.  Circumstances happen.  Events happen.  Your number 1 client leaves you.  This is because everything is always in motion based on the law of vibration.  If you think you can do it you should already be doing it.
  3. We require knowing exactly how to DO IT.  Here is reality, we don’t know how to do anything until we do it.  We are going to make mistakes, fail, and hopefully learn from it.  Having to know how to do it before we get started will limit how high we can reach.
  4. We QUESTION our right to BE, DO, or HAVE whatever it is we want in the goal.  We question if we are worthy of the goal and in reality we should be questioning whether the goal is worthy of us and our time and resources.
  5. Lastly, we think the purpose of the goal is to GET THE GOAL. The real purpose of setting goals is to cause growth and BEcome more than we are now.  Goals are about the journey and not the destination.

The last part of a crystal clear vision is to have the measurability in place to determine along the way if we are on track to make this year ordinary or extraordinary.
I hope this was helpful and that you will go back and revisit your vision and goals for the year and make sure they are as clear and big as you need them to be to grow and reach your potential.
