I read and heard the phrase “If I could turn back time…” 3 times over the last two days. It got me thinking of the meaning behind it and pondered my own list. So here you go in no uncertain order.
If I could turn back time I would:
- have taken school more seriously
- have continued playing hockey at the highest level I could
- have spent my money more wisely
- have stopped to think before loading the shopping cart into my buddy Bob’s truck
- have said I love you more often
- (you can fill your own in here)
But then again, if I could turn back time and I did I wouldn’t be who I am. I wouldn’t have all of the amazing people I have in my life, and maybe, just maybe, I wouldn’t be WOOHOOing as much as I do.
Lesson leaned, put the past behind you and each time you hear, “if I could turn back time…” replace it with “wouldn’t it be awesome if…” and set a plan in place to live your life moving forward.
The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it.
