How Can FORD Improve Your Relationships?

Welcome back, everybody. In today’s post we are talking about the acronym FORD, what it means, and how I use it to connect with people.

A lot of people don’t realize that business is a contact sport. It doesn’t matter what position you are in or what kind of business you are in, it truly is a contact sport. What I encourage people to do the most is work on their connection skills. You need to actively engage in prospecting, which means getting people to know you, like you, and trust you.

The best way to do this is by being an active listener and trying your best to connect with people, but how? It’s simple, all you have to do is ask a few simple questions, and actively listen to the answers. There are four different kinds of questions we like to ask prospects, and we are excited to share them with you today. Here they are:

Family- Ask them about their family members. Remember their names and the details you hear about them.
Occupation- Ask about work, how it’s going, how they like it, etc.
Recreation- Ask about upcoming weekend or holiday plans. Most people are eager to share their answers.
Dreams- If you want to get a little deeper, ask them about their ambitions. What goals do they want to accomplish, and how are they doing that?
