How to Deepen Your Connection with Others

Today, we’re going to talk about five practices to help you build better relationships and generate the results you want. The five connection practices are:

  1. Seek common ground with the person. Really know who they are and engage with them. Know what the intention of the conversation is, and what you want the outcome to be.
  2. Keep it simple. A sales pitch can get very technical, so remember to keep it simple so they can relate to you and understand what you are talking about.
  3. Create an experience that everyone enjoys. That way, you will better connect with them. Don’t make them feel like you are selling something to them.
  4. Inspire people. To inspire is to encourage or to lift up. If you’re complaining all the time, you will only have a negative connection with people. If you’re inspiring, they will be drawn to you.
  5. Live out what you communicate. There’s an old phrase that my mom taught me: “Don’t do as I do. Do as I say.” However, if you say one thing and do something different, then you won’t build the trust that you need in order to build those relationships.
